The house purge has begun! I am slowly beginning to get rid of all the furniture that doesn't help us achieve the style that we are going for. Yes, our house is starting to look much more empty, but that is going to have to just not matter for now. A little backstory as to why I would try and empty out our house:
As with most things these days, I blame this all on Pinterest...in a good way! Adam is probably getting pretty damn tired of the whole thing, but he is standing by me on this one. Unlike the time I heard that electronics pull energy from the house (this is a real thing, and the only thing I learned in Physical Science) even when they are not on. Obviously, I freaked, and tried to convince him we should unplug everything in the house. That didn't turn out in my favor, but the purging is happening! This most recent revelation was not in a particular article or picture, but it was in the fact that my taste was absolutely not reflected in my own home. It drove me crazy! I felt like I was known for this great taste on Pinterest, but I didn't actually have anything to show for my developing style. I'm pretty sure people don't walk in my house and think, "So, I thought this would be better considering your recent pins...". They might, but I really hope that is not a thing. Is that a thing? Even so! It's the principle people! I have hoarded furniture that had no aesthetic purpose for far too long. It is time to purge/update!
The first to go are my particle board bookshelves. These aren't the nice ones that you get at Ikea or Target. These are the ones that you find outside of a dumpster. Actually, that is exactly where we got them from. You can judge. I still don't feel bad about it. They have served me very well, and in turn I am giving them a tune up. First and foremost, I needed an inspiration!
Look at this beauty from Sarah M. Dorsey Designs! Maybe this is more of a hutch or a desk type thing, but I am painting those bad boys white! I would love to wallpaper the back, but because they are being flipped to sell, I am not going to spend that money. That's why I am putting burlap in the back. Cheap and adorable. Look at me being all creative and money savvy. The truth is that Adam has given me a budget. [Boo-ing sounds] I will not let that bring me down! The shelves will be white with burlap, and I bet we add a little molding on the sides and top in order to jazz them up a bit! I look forward to showing the whole process, which should be interesting considering the photography skills in this family.
